Meet Debora DeSousa
October 23, 2020
Debora Desousa, Key Account Manager for Jet Aviation Staffing in Teterboro, NJ, was recruited for her position three years ago by Zoe Katsilis, Staffing's Director of Sales and Recruitment. While Deborah may have been applying for a different position at the time, she's certainly never looked back!
Debora, can you briefly describe your job?
As a key account manager, I provide full aviation staffing services for temporary placements, specializing in pilots, flight attendants, schedulers, dispatchers and technical professionals for Jet Aviation managed clients, as well as third party clients outside of Jet Aviation.
What is the typical day of a key account staffing manager?
That's a very difficult question, but in my day-to-day business, I support various accounts within and outside of Jet Aviation, handling future-dated as well as pop-ups trip requests with the same level of urgency. It's my job to ensure that every detail of staffing, from placing a supplemental crewmember at the outset, right up to compensation at the end, is handled efficiently and in accordance with Jet Aviation's staffing policy and guidelines. For example, upon receipt of a payment request from a crewmember, I would first need to confirm that the request is accurately completed (i.e. verifying aircraft rates, trip dates). Only after I've verified and approved the request is it entered in our database and shared with our payroll team, where it is approved for payment.
Alongside these functions, I run and deliver monthly reports on daily and hourly contractors for HR. Concurrently, I assist our crewmembers with the registration process, making sure the necessary records are obtained, valid, and entered into the applicant tracking system for foreseeable needs.
I also make myself available for onsite customer visits and attend industry related events. It's important for me to attend such events for networking purposes and to stay informed on trends and innovative contract techniques in order to stay competitive. I love a challenge and embrace new tasks, but above all, it's imperative that I always remain accessible to assist crewmembers, clients and schedulers on any related queries to ensure a consistent high level of customer service.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
The feeling of accomplishment at the end of day. I treat all my daily tasks with the same level of urgency and professionalism, but I consider myself most fortunate to have the support and camaraderie of my peers, leaders and business partners to help ensure my success - and that sense of accomplishment.
And what do you enjoy about working for Jet Aviation?
Jet Aviation is a solid organization that is committed to exceptional quality and the highest safety standards. This is very important to me. That said, I think what I enjoy most is the diversity of the work and abundance of opportunities to learn new things.
